CNS Sends Representatives to the 2012 NPT PrepCom; Experts Available for CommentA number of CNS experts and students will attend the first session of the PrepCom for the 2015 RevCon of the Parties to the NPT as observers.
Monterey, CA - A number of CNS experts and students from the Monterey Institute of International Studies will attend the first session of the Preparatory Committee (PrepCom) for the 2015 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) as observers. "I hope that States participating at the 2012 PrepCom will look at what progress has been made on implementing the 2010 Action Plan, particularly the commitments by nuclear-weapon-states with regard to disarmament. Another important aspect of the Action Plan is the decision relating to the full implementation of the 1995 Middle East Resolution, in particular the convening of a Conference in 2012 on the establishment of a Middle East Zone free of nuclear weapons and all other WMD." —Aruni Wijewardane
Director of CNS's International Organizations and Nonproliferation Program The PrepCom, which will be held from 30 April to 11 May 2012 in Vienna, Austria, is the first of three sessions that will be held prior to the 2015 Review Conference.
