Missile Defense and Confidence Measures

This paper identifies US development and deployment of NMD and TMD systems as the main destabilizer in the Sino-US relationship. From China's standpoint, possible deployment of TMD system in Taiwan could seriously undermine the Sino-US relationship. The United States and China need to establish confidence building measures to enhance mutual trust.
