CNS Staff: Dr. Tariq Khaitous
Dr. Tariq Khaitous is a postdoctoral fellow at
CNS. He earned his Ph.D in International Relations and Political
Science from the Academy of Versailles, University of Cergy Pontoise, France, in
June 2007. His dissertation was on "The paradoxes of nuclear proliferation
since the end of the Cold War". He received a Master's degree in
Public Law and International Studies from University of Cergy Pontoise and a
Bachelor's degree in Public Law and Administration Science from the
University of Hassan the Ist, Settat, Morocco.
Dr. Khaitous published an article on the Iranian nuclear program in the French journal, Confluence Mediterraneé. He has also written numerous editorials for the premier daily Moroccan newspaper Le Matin on international relations and nuclear issues. Dr. Khaitous worked as an intern at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, in the Department for Disarmament Affairs and was in charge of preparing a weekly newsletter on small arms and light weapons (SALW). Prior to his internship in New York, Dr. Khaitous worked at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France. He contributed to the preparation of briefings and reports concerning the political and sociological situation of the Arab countries and summarizing the statements of the Arab member states. He was a member of the French Institute of International Relations and the French Association for the United Nations in Paris. Dr. Khaitous's research focus includes nuclear proliferation in the Middle East and nuclear energy and security in North Africa. Dr. Khaitous is fluent in Arabic, French and English.
