Both Davis UWC Fellows and Summer Undergraduate Interns worked closely with their supervisors on substantive nonproliferation-related issues. They conducted their research under the mentorship of senior staff members at CNS. In addition to working on ongoing project at the CNS, Fellows and Interns developed their own research projects. They also attended CNS lectures and training seminars throughout the summer. In addition to these stimulating academic activities, they enjoyed living in beautiful Monterey.

Summer Interns
Lena Buell CNS Project: EANP Brown University Major: International Relations - Global and Security and East Asia Country: United States "I had a great experience at CNS. I met some very interesting and intelligent people, with genuine drive and passion for nonproliferation and disarmament.
Ross Friedman CNS Project: IONP Emory University Major: Political Science and Music Performance Country: United States "The internship was a great experience that helped me learn about nonproliferation through research and discussion with staff members. The lectures were the most unique aspect of the program. Having the ability to interact with these experts was a fantastic experience, considering that at my university, such experts are not available for conversations.
Luke Johnson CNS Project: NISNP Claremont McKenna College Major: Government Country: United States "CNS is the most comprehensive institute and has the most welcoming program for undergraduate students with little or no experience in nonproliferation.
Alexander Popper CNS Project: CBWNP Carleton College Major: International Relations, Middle East focus Country: United States "Interning at CNS was one of the most valuable summer experiences I have ever had. My choice to spend the summer at CNS was primarily motivated by my conviction in the value of its mission to retard the global proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Through my internship I engaged in graduate-level research on a number of significant projects with leading professionals in nonproliferation and related fields.
Davis UWC Fellows
Saila Haifala Davis UWC Fellow Middlebury College Major: Science and Film & Media Culture Country: Finland "I enjoyed my time at CNS and in Monterey. The opportunity to attend lectures given by CNS experts was especially valuable for me. It was inspiring to be surrounded by the very knowledgeable and dedicated faculty of CNS. The importance and urgency of addressing nuclear nonproliferation issues on a global scale became very clear to me. I learned more about nonproliferation issues at CNS than I ever would anywhere else. Thank you for this experience!"
Joseph Kaifala Davis UWC Fellow Skidmore College Major: International Affairs & French Country: Sierra Leone "It was a rewarding experience. I believe that in order to tackle the problem of proliferation, there must be more involvement in studying this issue. I feel fortunate to have become involved in this study. Also, the issue of WMDs is a significant part of my interest in international peace and security.

Manu Ramkumar Davis UWC Fellow Luther College Major: Political Science, Economics Country: India "My summer research experience at CNS was very enriching and educative. It was an unparalleled experience, wherein I was able to engage myself in deep research at the undergraduate level. The Davis UWC Fellowship at CNS has been a big eye-opener for me. As a student pursuing Political Science and Economics, while dreaming of attending law school and eventually participating in political affairs that involve my country (India), this fellowship has been a big contribution.
