DatabasesBiological & Chemical Weapons and WMD Terrorism ListservEvery week CBWNP distributes a communiqué by e-mail containing links to and key excerpts from articles and other resources about chemical and biological weapons and terrorism involving weapons of mass destruction. A searchable archive of past editions is available on the Nuclear Threat Initiative website. Subscriptions to this e-mail listserv service are free; for information e-mail chembio-terror@miis.edu with the subject heading "subscribe" and your e-mail address in the message body. CBRN Incident and Response DatabaseCNS and the Monterey Institute's Terrorism Research and Education Program (MonTREP) developed the CBRN Incident and Response Database (IRD) in order provide public health professionals with one source to access for obtaining information about past incidents in the U.S. involving the acquisition, possession, threat, and/or use of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) agents by terrorists, criminals, or deranged persons. The IRD has been established and is operating as part of the CNS' Center for Public Health Preparedness training program, which is supported by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Subscriptions to the IRD are free, but are limited to those who possess email addresses with .gov and .mil endings. Academics may apply for a subscription by following the procedure explained below. In addition to containing information that succinctly describes each incident, as possible the IRD contains a summary of that incident's consequences and responses to it by relevant police, fire, and health agencies. Further, care has been taken to develop each incident as an individual case study, which provides lessons related to preparedness and response. For more information about the IRD contact the site manager at ird@miis.edu, or request a subscription. CBW Country ProfilesIn collaboration with the Proliferation Research and Assessment Program (PRAP), the CBWNP has compiled a wide variety of open-source information on the CBW capabilities of states of proliferation concern. These profiles may be accessed on the Nuclear Threat Initiative website. The CBW country profiles are combined with data on nuclear and missile programs to provide an overview of each country's WMD capabilities. Profiles are regularly upgraded and updated. |
