CBWNP is engaged in a number of activities
designed to broaden both public and academic understanding of biological and
chemical weapons and arms control issues.
Courses
CBWNP assists in
offering a variety of courses to Monterey Institute of International Studies
students on chemical and biological weapons topics. Included are a semester-long
seminar on biological and chemical weapons and arms control and shorter,
intensive workshops covering biological and chemical weapons technologies,
relevant export controls, aspects of weapons of mass destruction
nonproliferation, disarmament, and biological and chemical terrorism. Specific courses include
Introduction to Weapons of Mass Destruction Nonproliferation, Export
Controls, Terrorism Involving Weapons of Mass Destruction, as well as
numerous regionally focused courses.
Community Involvement
CBWNP
liaises with both local and regional law enforcement officials with the aim of
increasing local knowledge about aspects of chemical and biological weapons and
WMD terrorism. CBWNP staff members also work with public health and emergency
response professionals on these issues.
Conferences
CBWNP staff members provide guest lectures and participate in conferences that address
topics in and related to the biological and chemical warfare fields.
