CNS Reports

September 1, 2006

During the last week of August 2006, several media entities began citing a supposed report on North Korea missiles that was released by the Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) "the previous day" or on August 11, 2006. CNS released no such report, and much of the information attributed to this "CNS report" is erroneous. Some of the media attributing erroneous information to CNS include the Yonhap News Agency, The Korea Times, SKRIN Market & Corporate News, and Kommersant.

On March 22, 2006, CNS did release a special a special report on North Korean missile capabilities, which is available at: http://cns.miis.edu/pubs/week/pdf/060321.pdf. CNS encourages readers to review the March 2006 report and other CNS resources on the North Korean missile program on the CNS website (http://cns.miis.edu), or in the Nuclear Threat Initiative's "North Korea Country Profile," which is available at: http://www.nti.org/country-profiles/north-korea/.
