College of Nuclear Physics (Kim Il-sung University) and

College of Nuclear Physics (Kim-chaek University of Technology)

Activities: Responsible for basic nuclear research. Trains North Korea’s nuclear scientists and technicians. The College of Nuclear Physics at the Kim Il-sung University reportedly operates "hot cells" and a quasi-research reactor for research and educational purposes.

Atomic Energy Research Institute (sometimes identified as the Radioactivity Protection Research Institute)

Activities: Engaged in accelerator research.
