Areas of Research
BackgroundMr. Saab joined CNS after serving four years as Research Analyst at the Saban Center for Middle East Policy at the Brookings Institution. Prior to joining Brookings, he was the Chief Officer and Editor of the Middle East desk at the Center for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence (CSTPV) at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, where he was a British Council scholar. Before that, he held several research positions at the Lebanese Center for Policy Studies (LCPS) in Beirut and at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and Middle East Institute (MEI) in Washington, DC. He is fluent in spoken and written Arabic and French. In his capacity as specialist in Middle East security and terrorism, Saab has briefed numerous diplomatic, defense, and intelligence agencies in the United States government. In addition, he has lectured at various universities in the United States and spoken at a number of high-level terrorism and security conferences in Europe. He has provided expert commentary to CNN, BBC, NPR's All Things Considered, NPR's Marc Steiner Show, Channel News Asia, WBEZ Chicago Public Radio, France 24, Associated Press, Agence France Presse, The Washington Post, The New York Times, USA Today, The Christian Science Monitor, The Guardian, The Jerusalem Post, and others. BibliographyHis articles have been published in Middle East Policy, Studies in Conflict and Terrorism, The Washington Quarterly, and The World Today. He has written for Brookings, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, and The National Interest, and his op-eds have appeared in The New York Times, The International Herald Tribune, The Christian Science Monitor, The Baltimore Sun, The Washington Post Global, Haaretz, The Daily Star, The Middle East Times, Hurriyet Daily News, Al Hayat, and others.
