Margarita Sevcik is Deputy Director of the Education Program at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies at the Monterey Institute for International Studies.

Background

Margarita Sevcik joined CNS in 1998. In 1999-2001, she worked as the Office Manager at the CNS Representative Office in Almaty, Kazakhstan. In 2001, she returned to Monterey and since that time she managed the CNS nonproliferation intensive training program called the Visiting Fellows Program. In 2011, she assumed the position of the Deputy Director of the CNS Education Program. In addition to the Visiting Fellows Program, she is responsible for various nonproliferation education and outreach activities carried out by CNS in Eurasia and providing assistance to universities in this region in teaching nonproliferation courses.

She is the editor of the electronic newsletter CNS Brief which CNS produces for its programs' alumni and colleagues across the globe.

Her research interests include problems of radiological security in Central Asia, and other general issues related to nuclear security and nonproliferation.
