Elena Sokova
Assistant Director of CNS
Elena Sokova is the Assistant Director of the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies at the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Her research focuses on nuclear nonproliferation issues in Russia and the NIS, trafficking in nuclear and radioactive materials, fissile materials security, nuclear fuel cycle developments, and nonproliferation education and training.
Recent publications include an article on Russias proposals on multinational nuclear fuel arrangements ("Nuclear Power Broker," The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, September/October 2007, co-authored with C.Chuen), chapters in The Search for WMD: Non-Proliferation, Intelligence and Pre-emption in the New Security Environment (Center for Foreign Policy Studies, Dalhousie University, 2006) and in Preventing Nuclear Meltdown: Managing Decentralization of Russia's Nuclear Complex (Ashgate, 2004). Elena Sokova holds a Masters degree in Law from Moscow State University (1992) and a Masters degree in International Public Administration from the Monterey Institute of International Studies (2000).
