Country Profile: Thailand

BASIC FACTS

The Kingdom of Thailand is a unitary state on the Southeast Asian Indochinese Peninsula, bordered by Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Malaysia. The system of constitutional monarchy was established after a 1932 revolution and the kingdom’s name was officially changed from Siam.

Capital: Bangkok

There are no nuclear power plants in Thailand. The Thai Institute of Nuclear Technology operates a light water, graphite reactor (TRR-1/M1) for neutron radiography and irradiation experiments. The Suranee University of Technology is currently planning development of a reactor (SUT MNSR) for neutron boron capture therapy in the future.
