BASIC FACTS

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is located on the northern coast of South America, bordered by Colombia, Brazil, and Guyana. Venezuela is a federal presidential republic that declared its independence in 1811.

Capital: Caracas

There are no nuclear power plants in Venezuela. In 1956 General Electric supplied one material testing reactor (RV-1) which was subsequently shut down and decommissioned in 1994. The site is now used for gamma ray sterilization.
