BASIC FACTS
Malaysiais a Member Country of the NAM Movement since 1970.
Located in Southeast Asia, Malaysia is separated by the South China Sea into two similar sized regions, Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia. Peninsular Malaysia borders to the North with Thailand, and shares maritime border with Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia. East Malaysia borders Brunei, Philippines and Vietnam. Malaysia is a federal constitutional monarchy that gained its independence in 1957.

Malaysia does not have any operational nuclear power plants. However, Malaysia has one nuclear research reactor known as the TRIGA PUSPATI research reactor at Malaysian Nuclear Agency which has been in operation since 1982. The reactor was designed to effectively implement the various fields of basic nuclear science and education, such as nuclear research and development, radioisotope production, education and training. Furthermore, in 2016 an IAEA was invited to review the infrastructure development for a nuclear power programmed by the Government of Malaysia.
