BASIC FACTS
Saint Lucia is a Member Country of the NAM Movement since 1983
Saint Luciais a parliamentary democracy island under a constitutional monarchysituated in the Caribbean, between the Caribbean Sea and North Atlantic Ocean.

Saint Lucia does not currently operate any nuclear power plants but has recently signed a Country Programme Framework (CPF) agreement with the IAEA to commence medium-term planning oftechnical cooperation projects aimed at enabling nuclear technologies and resources to benefit Saint Lucia’s development goals. Under the CPF, which has started in 2022, the IAEA technical assistance received by Saint Luciawillsupport the country inleveraging the peaceful applications of nuclear technology for Saint Lucia’s main civilian sectors and strategic priorities, which includehealth and nutrition, food and agriculture, radiation safety and nuclear security, energy and industry, and water and environment.
Saint Lucia has signed, ratified, and enforced the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) in September of 2018, January of 2019, and January of 2021, respectively.
