BASIC FACTS

Saint Kitts and Nevisis a Member Country of the NAM Movement since 2006 

Officially the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Kitts and Nevisis a federal parliamentary democracy under a constitutional monarchysituated in the Caribbean.

Capital: Basseterre

Saint Kitts and Nevis does not currently operate any nuclear power plants, but it has been recently reported that the country is embracing nuclear technology for uses in agricultural and food production, in partnership with the IAEA. By engaging in a Regional Strategic Framework (RSF) agreement with the IAEA, Saint Kitts and Nevis will benefit from scientific cooperation and guidance in implementing the peaceful uses of nuclear technology across critical civilian sectors, such as mutation breeding techniques that can significantly improve food quality and crop production. Saint Kitts and Nevis has also been an active participant in IAEA-led technical workshops to enhance nuclear security and radiological safety for Latin American and Caribbean countries.
